Redefining flex in the next millenium
Article Abstract:
The trend towards workforce flexibility has increased the demand for flexible benefits. The concept of flexible benefits itself is changing, subsequently spurring a move away from using the Internal Revenue Code Section 125 and cafeteria plan design. Flexible benefits in the year 2000 will stress the separation of funding from benefit options. They will also become more performance based. Flexible benefits will eventually become a total compensation scheme.

Spatial variations in Mexican maquiladora closure
Article Abstract:
The reasons for the closure of maquiladoras or facilities in Mexico that manufacture for export are analyzed, and findings suggest that maquilas are found to evolve by product and by location. Hence, the future of the maquiladora industry lies in structural reform in education and training for a labor force that must compete on the basis of a different manufacturing paradigm.
