Sizing up your school district

Article Abstract:

Urban school districts are assailed by an increase in problem students, defects in the organizational culture, and a paucity of resources. Comparing educational and vocational institutions on the basis of final exam test scores and job placement rates is an effective way of measuring their overall performance. While early childhood education is needed for the underprivileged, students tend to perform better in participatory learning environments. In-service teacher training ensures the updating of curriculum and teaching techniques. Tips for reporting on school districts are provided.

Time to light some candles

Article Abstract:

In developing countries, problems continually plague motorization of farming. These problems include machine breakdown, unavailability of spare parts, unsuitability, high cost of machinery and equipment and fuel shortage. To avoid such problems, farmers should make the choice of equipment based on their particular needs and budget, while governments should look for other energy sources and outline national agricultural mechanization plans that will obtain the right types of mechanization for agriculture.

A girl recounts her experiences of her pregnancy at the age of nineteen, which was unplanned.
