A darting protocol in a large carinate, the peacock

Article Abstract:

A study demonstrates that it is possible to dart and immobilize free-ranging adult peacocks safely with ketamine and xylazine. A successful protocol is provided to dart adult peacocks safely and it is shown that it is possible to use remote injection and to anesthetize large carinate birds with well developed pectoral muscles from a distance.

Maximum likelihood estimates of tag loss in leatherback sea turtles

Article Abstract:

A new method is developed to estimate the rate of tag loss on leatherback sea turtles, based on the number of days at liberty after the tagging. Leatherback sea turtles are the focus of long-term monitoring and therefore are metal flipper tagged.
