A protocol for plant conservation by translocation in threatened lowland Fynbos

Article Abstract:

Issues discussed concern the policy for translocating a threatened plant species in Cape Town, South Africa. Topics addressed include the effect of agricultural and urban development on lowland Fynbos populations, methods for introducing this indigenous plant to protected areas, and zoning plans that would continue to protect the species within urban areas.

How taxonomists can bridge the gap between taxonomy and conservation science

Article Abstract:

This article examines the taxonomic gulf between botanists and conservationits with respect to many unnamed and imperfectly known species and their preservation. Effective participation by the taxonomists in bridging this gap is proposed.
