Agency 'ignoring its advisors' over Bt maize

Article Abstract:

The US EPA has approved a type of corn genetically modified to fight rootworm, despite the concerns of its advisors who claim the variety does not produce enough toxin to prevent eventual resistance. Monsanto counters that its license to produce the corn is not long enough to allow resistance to develop.

US reflects on flying eye for transgenic crops

Article Abstract:

The United States Environmental Protection Agency plans to use a scheme which would help to monitor genetically modified crops from space. The technology would be helpful in tracking the farmers' complience with planting guidelines.

Division sink US consensus effort on transgenic food

Article Abstract:

The legislation to strengthen the regulations for transgenic food is presented before the Congress. A 18- member panel was set up to produce detailed guidelines for safety standards for these transgenic foods.
