Effects of habitat fragmentation on birds in deciduous forests in Japan

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on birds in deciduous forests in Japan. The authors conclude that it is important to preserve large areas of contiguous forests and monitor predator effects on nest success in order to conserve area-sensitive species in deciduous forests in Japan.

Marten habitat selection in a clearcut boreal landscape

Article Abstract:

Habitat selection of an area in western Quebec, Canada was studied to describe the forest mosaic suitable for marten. If the forest logging is adapted to the species at landscape level, marten and clearcutting may be compatible.

Protected area planning in the tropics: Uganda's national system of forest nature reserves

Article Abstract:

Role of forest reserves in biodiversity and conservation was studied in Uganda. A 5-year, U.S $1-million program on biodiversity and resource assessment was undertaken to select suitable sites for forest nature reserves.
