Effects of hunting and hunting-hour extension on mourning dove foraging and physiology

Article Abstract:

Research using body weight and corticosterone levels indicates that mourning dove populations did not experience significant stress from extended hunting hours. Data were obtained from the 1993 hunting extension period initiated by the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources to increase human recreational opportunities.

Survival of white-tailed deer fawns in Southern Illinois

Article Abstract:

The fawn survival in white-tailed deer is affected by intrinsic factors such as age and birth mass as well as external habitat chiefly the coyote predation areas.

Space use and survival of white-tailed deer in an exurban landscape

Article Abstract:

The studies of space use and survival of 43 female white-tailed deer in an exurban setting near Carbondale, Illinois revealed the deer to have larger home ranges than most suburban deer populations and generally smaller home ranges than rural deer populations.
