Amino-acid transport by heterodimers of 4F2hc/CD98 and members of a permease family

Article Abstract:

Amino-acid transport through cellular plasma membranes relies on parallel-functioning (co-)transporters and exchangers. The L system accounts for a sodium-independent exchange of neutral amino acids, and y+L system exchanges positively charged amino acids. The permease-related protein E16 has been identified as the first light chain of h4F2hc, and the resulting heterodimeric complex is found to mediate L-type amino-acid transport.

Capturing carbon: Sequestration of greenhouse gases could play an important role in capping emissions

Article Abstract:

The capturing of carbon is very important for energy conservation and hence sequestration of greenhouse gases might play a vital role in capping emissions. Carbon sequestration is found to be the only option that would allow the use of fossil energy without the threat of altering Earth's climate system.
