An ultraslow-spreading class of ocean ridge

Article Abstract:

Research discusses the growth characteristics of ocean ridges as exemplified by the ultraslow-spreading of the Southwest Indian and Arctic ridges. Results reveal that the maximum spreading rate of ultraslow-spreading ridges is less than 12 millimeter per year and rates of 20 millimeter per year are more common. Data indicate that they are composed of linked magnetic and amagnetic accretionary ridge segments.
