Article Abstract:

The House Committee on Science and Technology has asked the National Science Foundation (NSF) to supply various equipments to the science laboratories in several poor students' high schools. The government wants to take this step, in addition to its various other programs that target the poor and minority areas, in order to pair proper teacher training with the provision of equipments.

US universities up in arms over license plans for foreign staff

Scientists and students from countries like Pakistan, India and China are required to obtain special licenses from the US Department of Commerce before operating, installing, maintaining or repairing equipment on the department's extensive list of controlled technologies.

High prices of supplies drain cash from poorer nations' labs

Article Abstract:

A study of the cost of lab equipment across countries determine that poorer countries continuously pay inflated prices for lab equipment and materials. An analysis of a survey conducted with four countries namely, Germany, Poland, U.S. and Brazil is presented.
