Bed site characteristics of pronghorn fawns

Article Abstract:

Survival of the pronghorn fawn is affected by the habitat used during fawning. The Trans-Pecos Region of Texas is an important pronghorn habitat, but there is little available information on fawning habitat. A new study, evaluating the bed site characteristics of pronghorn fawns in north Hudspeth County, TX, is presented. The study shows that shrub density, shrub cover, bed slope and grass cover are the most important variables, while rock cover and terrain slope are also important. Suggestions for ground cover for fawning areas are included.

Whole genome amplification for sequencing and applications in conservation genetics

Article Abstract:

A method for rapidly amplifying whole genomes through a Phi29 DNA polymerase-mediated strand displacement reaction (SDR), which offers a means of obtaining large quantities of DNA from small amounts of tissues, is described.

Influence of precipitation on Pronghorn Dermography in Texas

Article Abstract:

The analysis of relationship between abundance, productivity of pronghorn in Texas and precipitation shows that moisture content or precipitation directly influences the abundance and reproduction in pronghorn.
