Big plans for little brains

Article Abstract:

Experts in neuroscience, computing and education are coming together in a massive effort to put the way in which children are taught on a sounder scientific footing. US National Science Foundation (NSF) decided to span the great divide between neuroscience and education to device practical methods that will complement the brain's natural development, in part by integrating advances in cognitive neuroscience with cutting-edge information technology.

Issues are presented concerning the funding of scientists who are engaged in biomedical research by businessmen who have made fortunes in high technology. The effect of recession on the funding of biomedical research is discussed.
