Biostratigraphy of new pterosaurs from China

Article Abstract:

An analysis of two pterosaurs from the Chaomidianzi Formation of the Beipiao area, western Liaoning Province, China, and other components of the fauna indicates a Late Jurassic biostratigraphic age for the Liaoning beds, which are significant for the study of avian origins. Dendrorhynchus curvidentatus, a new pterosaur, is morphometrically most similar to the Late Jurassic (Tithonian) Solnhofen form Rhamphorhynchus. However, it does not fit within that taxon. Eosipterus yangi, the second new fossil, is a large pterodactylid with a wingspan of around 1.25 mt.

Pterosaurs as part of a spinosaur diet

Article Abstract:

A specimen of Spinosaurid theropod from the Early Cretaceous Santana Formation of northeastern Brazil indicates that Spinosaurs occasionally feed on pterosaurs during the course of scavenging activities. This rare proof of scavenging indicates that pterosaurs were part of the diet of spinosaurs, and were not strictly piscivorous.
