Bird-flu experts question advice on eating poultry

Article Abstract:

Experts on bird-flu are questioning advice on how safe it is for people to eat poultry infected with H5N1 avian flu virus. Although there is no direct evidence that transmission of H5N1 avian flu virus can occur through poorly cooked infected poultry and all animal evidence to date unfortunately suggests that this is possible.

The US government's plans to fight the countryEs obesity epidemic are discussed. Scientists worry that marking obesity as a research problem risks 'medicalizing' the issue and reinforcing public belief that it is a disease requiring treatment.
