What females want

Article Abstract:

The evolution of elaborate male traits in the Pacific Blue-eye fish is driven by two processes namely, competition and mate choice. The male's guarding abilities are examined by introducing another male as a potential nest challenger and egg predator. Studies suggest that dominant males actually made mediocre fathers, as they did not achieve better hatching success than subordinates.
