CD1c-mediated T-cell recognition in isoprenoid glycolipids in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to define a new class of widely distributed lipid antigens presented by the CD1 system during infection in vivo. T-cell activation by recognition of dolichols provides a mechanism for immune recognition of changes in the level or structure or isoprenoid glycolipids.

Apolipoprotein-mediated pathways of lipid antigen presentation

Article Abstract:

The pathways mediating markedly efficient exogenous lipid antigen delivery by apolipoproteins to achieve T-cell activation is defined. Apolipoprotein E binds lipid antigens and delivers them by receptor-mediated uptake into endosomal compartments containing CD1 in antigen-presenting cells.

CD1d-lipid-antigen recognition by the semi-invariant NKT T-cell receptor

Article Abstract:

The structure of a human natural killer T cell receptor (NKT TCR) in complex with CD1d bound to the potent NKT-cell agonist [alpha]-galactosylceramide, the archetypal CD1d-restricted glycolipid is described.
