Carnivore-Livestock Conflicts: Effects of Subsidized Predator Control and Economic Correlates on the Sheep Industry

Article Abstract:

A comparison is made between sheep industries in the eastern and western United States. In the former, coyote predator control is not federally subsidized; in the latter, coyote predator control is subsidized. Findings show that sheep declines have not been halted with subsidized predator control; alternative methods of support are recommended.

Limb deformities as an emerging parasitic disease in amphibians: evidence from museum specimens and resurvey data

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that Ribeiroia infection is associated with historical accounts of malformations in amphibians in seven US states reported as early as 1946, and also in present-day findings of resurveyed areas. Implications for amphibian population viability are discussed.
