Chimpanzees are more skillful in competitive than in cooperative cognitive tasks

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to demonstrate a facilitative cognitive effect for competition in a single experimental paradigm. It is suggested that chimpanzee cognitive evolution is best understood in its socioecological context.

The ontogeny of gaze following in chimpanzees, Pan troglodytes, and rhesus macaques, Macaca mulatta

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the social-cognitive skills of gaze following in rhesus monkeys and in chimpanzees. The period of infancy during which gaze following skills are learnt is discussed.
