Clinical trails face lack of minority group volunteers

Article Abstract:

Clinical research and health organizations in the US expressed concern over the absence of minority group representation in clinical trials. The growing rate of breast cancer among minority women requires the recruitment of minorities to clinical trials to help evaluate the behavioral and environmental factors influencing the disease. This has forced the National Institutes of Health to introduce grant cuts on researchers unable to recruit minorities and has also urged the National Cancer Institute to sponsor a conference for resolving the issue.

Smithsonian to study museums' role after dropping A-bomb exhibition

Article Abstract:

The Smithsonian Institution in Washington proposes to form a joint forum with the University of Michigan to evaluate the institution's role as a national museum. The forum will investigate how museums deal with controversial political and social issues. This proposal follows the cancellation of an exhibition on Enola Gay, the plane that dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima by the museum. The cancellation was in response to protests that the exhibition would amount to a distortion of public perception of the historical importance of the event.
