Co-evolution of transcriptional and post-translational cell-cycle regulation

Article Abstract:

The regulation of protein complexes has evolved considerably, despite the fact those involved in the process are largely the same among all eukaryotes. It is indicated that many different solutions have evolved for assembling the same molecular machines at the right time during the cell cycle, involving both transcriptional and post-translational layers that jointly control the dynamics of biological systems.

Catalytic enantioselective reactions driven by photoinduced electron transfer

Article Abstract:

A catalytic photoinduced electron transfer reaction that proceeds with considerable turnover and high enantioselectivity is presented. Photoinduced electron transfer is an essential step in the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy in photosystems I and II and is also used by chemists to build complex molecules from simple precursors.

Proteome survey reveals modularity of the yeast cell machinery

Article Abstract:

The first genome-wide screen for complexes in an organism, budding yeast, using affinity purification and mass spectrometry is reported. It provides the largest collection of physically determined eukaryotic cellular machines so far and a platform for biological data integration and modelling.
