Conservation reserve program benefits on Henslow's sparrows within the United States

Article Abstract:

A research is conducted regarding the declining population of the Henslow's sparrow, North America's songbirds by using the North American Breeding Bird Survey. The study suggested that local Henslow's sparrow population trends correlated with Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and that CRP plays an important role in reversing long-term population declines.

Evidence for a recent Henslow's sparrow population increase in Illinois

Article Abstract:

The analysis results of population trends and association changes in land-use among Henslow's sparrow reveal increase in population within Illinois, U.S. which coincides with the establishment of greater than 400,000 ha of grasslands within the state by the Conservation Reserve Program.

Long-billed curlew, a declining species of special concern in North America, is studied with the goal of determining its breeding population and providing recommendations for long-term long-billed curlew monitoring protocol.
