Control of Th2 polarization by the chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein-1

Article Abstract:

The impact of the chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) on memory/effector T-cell heterogeneity has significant implications for pathogenesis. Research in this area has established that MCP-1-deficient mice cannot mount Th2 responses. MCP-1 affects both innate immunity, through effects on monocytes, and adaptive immunity, through control of T helper cell polarization. It is clear that a single chemokine can affect two disparate and vital pathways in disease.

The homeobox gene lim-6 is required for distinct chemosensory representations in C. elegans

Article Abstract:

Research is presented describing how the homeobox gene lim-6 is necessary for the functional asymmetry in chemosensory neurons that allows Caenorhabditis elegans to discriminate between sodium and chloride. The ability to distinguish different chemical stimuli is vital for spatial orientation, the detection of food, and other adaptive behaviours in animals.

Transcription coactivator p300 binds PCNA and may have a role in DNA repair synthesis

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the influence which p300 may have in the repair synthesis of DNA through its means of interacting with the proliferating cell nuclear antigen in in vivo and in in vitro situations.
