Courtship in the monogamous convict cichlid; what are individuals saying to rejected and selected mates?

Article Abstract:

The relation between courtship and mate choice in convict cichlids was examined by presenting females with the option of courting and spawning with one or two males that were isolated from each other. Findings suggest that rejected males might court more as they know they are not the preferred males, or selected males might court less as they know that they are the preferred males, or a combination of both.

Group courtship, mating behavior and siphon sac function in the whitetip reef shark, Triaenodon obesus

Article Abstract:

The courtship, mating behavior and siphon sac functional morphology are analyzed in free-living whitetip reef sharks, Triaenodon obesus, and several mating behaviors of this species are documented for the first time. The implications of group courtship, siphon isthmus constriction, reverse thrusting, postrelease gaping and noncopulatory ejaculation are discussed.

The role of courtship song in sexual selection and species recognition by female Drosophila melanogaster

Article Abstract:

Male fruit flies, Drosophila melanogaster, produce a complex courtship display that females may use to identify conspecifics and to aid in choosing a high-quality mate. The characteristics that differ between species are identified.
