Cross-presentation by intercellular peptide transfer through gap junctions

Article Abstract:

Peptides are shown with a relative molecular mass of up to approximately 1,800 diffuse intercellularly through gap junctions unless a three-dimensional structure is imposed. A mechanism of antigen acquisition for cross-presentation is presented that couples the antigen presentation system of two adjacent cells and is lost in most tumors.

The major substrates for TAP in vivo are derived from newly synthesized proteins

Article Abstract:

The lateral mobility of the transporter TAP in living cells is investigated, showing that mobility increases when it is inactive and decreases when it translocates peptides.

Intracellular bacterial growth is controlled by a kinase network around PKB/AKT1

Article Abstract:

The identification of kinase inhibitors clustered in one network around ATK1/PKB with antibiotic properties that prevent intracellular growth of bacteria is reported.
