Cyclin specificity in the phosphorylation of cyclin-dependent kinase substrates

Article Abstract:

The specificity of two budding yeast cyclins, the S-phase cyclin Clb5 and the M-phase cyclin Clb2, in the phosphorylation of 150 Cdk1 substrates is compared. Although, any highly Clb2 specific substrates were not identified, it was found that Clb2-Cdk1 possessed higher intrinsic kinase activity than Clb5-Cdk1, enabling efficient phosphorylation of a broad range of mitotic Cdk1 targets.

Polo kinase links the stress pathway to cell cycle control and tip growth in fission yeast

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that the stress response pathway (SRP) promotes phosphorylation of Plo1 on Ser402 is presented. In unperturbed cell cycles, SRP-mediated phosphorylation of Ser402 promotes Plo1 recruitment to spindle pole body's (SPBs) and thus commitment to mitosis.

The AID antibody diversification enzyme is regulated by protein kinase A phosphorylation

Article Abstract:

AID from B cells is phosphorylated on a consensus protein kinase A (PKA) site and the PKA is the physiological AID kinase. PKA has a critical role in post-translational regulation of AID activity in B cells.
