Earth rocked by combination punch

Article Abstract:

The age of the Popigai impact crater in Siberia has been disputed, but research by Bottomley and colleagues has aged rocks from the Popigai crater at 35.7 plus or minus 0.2 million years (Myr). The Chesapeake Bay impact crater of the Virginia shore has already been dated at 35.5 to 35.2 Myr old, making the two craters of similar age. The two successive major impacts on earth may have led to environmental changes, which in turn led to the terminal Eocene cataclysm and global changes.

How Earth created heaven

Article Abstract:

The Tien Shan mountains, Central Asia, have shortening rates of about 20 mm/yr, which constitutes a large part of the total convergence between Siberia and India. The mountains are far away from the active collision region of Eurasia and Asia. The shortening rates indicate the transfer of the forces of colliding continents far from the Eurasian plate margin. The crustal-scale deformation forces propagate in a random, unpredictable geometrically straightforward manner.

Spontaneous sign systems created by deaf children in two cultures

Article Abstract:

Deaf children without access to usable conventional linguistic input doe use gesture to communicate, which resemble natural language in that they are structured as sentences and words. The use of gesture may be due to the observation of gestures by hearing parents. This has been explored in children of hearing parents in American and Chinese cultures. Several similarities were observed in the spontaneous sign systems.
