Equilibrium on hold

Article Abstract:

Two atomic clouds confined to one dimension can be made to pass through each other repeatedly without ever coming to rest and such non-equilibrium phenomena are fundamental. In an ultracold atomic gas, a state of equilibrium has generally been reached by the time each atom has collided with just three others and the speed with which relaxation occurs makes observing non-equilibrium phenomena difficult.

Statistical mechanics of a gas-fluidized particle

Article Abstract:

An exhaustive demonstration of a steadily driven dissipative system that is perfectly described by near -equilibrium statistical mechanics is provided. It has a single effective temperature that holds at all timescales and that therefore completely describes the fluctuating dynamics.

A hard statistical view

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the feasibility of the approach of hitting-set problem, which employs the statistical physics techniques to solve extremely complex computer problems. It is found to be extremely beneficial, as the computational methods find applications in numerous fields.
