European passions cool as bill increases

Article Abstract:

European scientists have become less excited about energy research projects using nuclear fusion since they became unfashionable and costly. Magnetic-fusion research work on projects such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor have cost Europe nine billion US dollars since the concept was born in 1967. Politicians are doubtful that the scientific community can come up with a working prototype within the foreseeable future, despite scientists' claims to the contrary.

Europe bids for molecular biology 'club'

Article Abstract:

Young molecular biologists working in Europe will be invited to apply for awards issued by body European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). Winners of the awards will work together under the title of EMBO Research Scientists, in connection with specialists at research laboratory European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Germany. EMBO plans to fund the awards project with a 590,000 US dollars donation, together with contributions from European countries.

Science returns to Einstein's rural retreat

Article Abstract:

The German home of space scientist Albert Einstein has been awarded to his relatives. The building, situated in Caputh, East Germany, is currently used as a tourist facility. The German authority Amt zur Regelung offener Vermogensfragen authority declared its reversed decision following a six-year court battle. The building will be sold for 1.12 million US dollars and used by scholars.
