Gadolinium peanuts

Article Abstract:

Gamma-rays, which are associated with a hyperdeformed or peanut-shaped nucleus, have been noticed in the rare-earth element gadolinium-147. These hyperdeformed nuclei are characterized by a spherical or prolate deformation in their ground state. However, greater deformations are energetically possible in some nuclei which rotate at large angular momenta. A hyperdeformed nucleus has a gamma-ray sequence in which the energy difference between successive gamma-ray transitions is constant at 30keV whereas for superdeformed shapes it is 50keV. The Gammasphere and Eurogam are being used to confirm that the gadolinium does have the gamma-ray bands and only at a high angular momentum.

Stock blind programs

Article Abstract:

The stock mini-blind business is growing and the market has yet to peak. Mini-blinds are 23% of the window decoration market. Stock blind is 30 to 50% lower in cost than a custom blind. Customers also do not want to wait for the custom blinds to be produced. Manufacturers are now making stock blinds available to the public through department stores and discount stores.

Power crazy

Article Abstract:

Suggestions and information are presented on how consumers can minimize their electricity bills after deregulation. Only the generation of electricity is being deregulated, but other costs such as transmission and distribution should remain the same, and consumers should shop around for their best options.
