Gerhard Herzberg (1904-99)

Article Abstract:

Molecular spectroscopist Gerhard Herzberg gained a doctorate in engineering physics from the Technische Hochschule in Darmstadt, Germany, in 1928. He worked in Gottingen, Germany, at the experimental institute headed by James Franck and at the theoretical institute headed by Max Born, and during this period made his first measurements of electronic transitions in polyatomic molecules. He was appointed to Darmstadt University, Germany, in 1930, but in 1935 moved to the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada.

Is there underinvestment in R and D about prevention?

Article Abstract:

Research and development (R and D) concerning preventive goods and services continues to experience underinvestment coming from the government and from the private sector. Underinvestment results due to efforts of each countries to free-ride off research conducted in other places. Lack of political support and existence of several financially constrained R and D companies also contribute to underinvestment.

Mark Birley is the owner of several clubs in London, England, and in 2001 another of his clubs, George, is due to open. Birley's clubs are exclusive dining establishments that cater to the stars and have wonderful atmospheres.
