Article Abstract:

The tilt of the Earth's orbital plane causes 100-kyr glacial cycles as revealed by studies of oxygen isotope ratio in the Specmap set of data from five sea-floor sediment cores. Extraterrestrial augmentation of dust in ice and sedimentary rocks detected via analysis of iridium provided proof for the role of orbital inclination in climate change.

Article Abstract:

Sepkoski's compendium of the first and last stratigraphic appearances of 36,380 marine genera is used to show strong 62(plus or minus)3-million -year cycles, which is particularly evident in the shorter-lived genera. Because of the high statistical significance, the contributions of environmental factors and possible causes are considered.
