Going with the flow

Article Abstract:

Recent investigations are providing evidence that the crust influences the controllingflow of the underlying mantle. The evidence is based on triangulation techniques using earthquake moment release data instead of geodetic measurements. These investigations have concluded that the instantaneous pattern of dominant faulting also constrains how the large-scale flow field changes with time. Therefore, the brittle crust does have an effect on the flowfield. However, the use of earthquake-moment release data may be unrepresentative of the total fault pattern.

Cenozoic climate change as a possible cause for the rise of the Andes

Article Abstract:

A mechanism by which Cenozoic climate change could have cause the rise of the Andes, is discussed. The climate and the rise of a large Andesare casually linked which have often been considered to work in one direction, with significant uplift provoking climate change.
