Simulating the effects of climate change on tropical montane cloud forests

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the use of two quantities that are determined by large-scale (grid-box-scale) variables which are closely correlated with cloud formation and occurrence - the grid-box-averaged relative humidity (RH) and the lifting condensation level (LCL) - indicates that it is appropriate to focus on the RH as a grid-scale cloud formation proxy, particularly differences in the RH between simulations. It has been established that a combination of reduced cloud contact and increased evapo-transpiration could have serious conservation implications for tropical montane cloud forests.
