High-resolution subsurface water-ice distributions on mars

Article Abstract:

The seasonal temperature response of the Martian surface, observed from the Thermal Emission Imaging System on the Mars Odyssey spacecraft, has helped in observing heterogeneities at subkilometre scale. The high-resolution measurements have shown that the depth to the water-ice table is highly variable within the potential Phoenix spacecraft landing ellipses.

Hot metal

Article Abstract:

Earth's mantle is poor in iron oxide in comparison to the mantle of Mars. The higher temperatures dramatically increase the solubility of oxygen in molten iron.
