Hitting the sweet spot

Article Abstract:

A new approach for differentiating one cell from another is developed, which takes advantage of the cell's carbohydrate metabolism and tags specific cells using reactive sugar analogues, thus singling them out for imaging studies and drug deliveries. This method can be used for labeling and targeting of cells and helps in achieving specific chemical transformations using spatial and temporal control in live animals.

Effective RNAi-mediated gene silencing without interruption of the endogenous microRNA pathway

Article Abstract:

The impact of the systemic administration of the small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) on the gene silencing in mouse and hamster liver is discussed. The approach is found to be extremely advantageous, as it does not interrupt the endogenous microRNA pathway.
