Hunting belugas

Article Abstract:

The beluga research team from Marine Mammal Interpretation Center in Tadoussac, Quebec studies endangered beluga whales and learns more about them so that they can help them survive in the St. Lawrence River. There used to be 5,000 belugas in the St. Lawrence River but now only 1,200 exist mainly because of over hunting, which is being curbed by the efforts of the research team.

Save the beluga from exhibition

Article Abstract:

The endangered beluga has become a rallying point for Canadian conservationists. However, the planned capture of five belugas from their natural Arctic habitat for exhibition at the Biodome of Montreal is a misdirected effort to spare the smaller population in the St. Lawrence River.
