Identification of JAK/STAT signaling components by genome-wide RNA interference

Article Abstract:

The description of a systematic genome-wide survey for genes that are required for Janus tyrosine kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway activity is discussed. Four known and 86 previously uncharacterized proteins interacting genes encoding were identified by analyzing 20,026 RNA interference (RNAi)-induced phenotypes in cultured Drosophila melanogaster haemocyte-like cells.

Plant retinoblastoma homologues control nuclear proliferation in the female gametophyte

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to investigate the role of the Arabidopsis retinoblastoma protein homologue and its function as a negative regulator of cell proliferation during megagametophyte development. The results indicate that the three mutant alleles of the gene for the Arabidopsis retinoblatoma-related protein, RBRI are gametophytic lethal.

Regulation of progenitor cell proliferation and granulocyte function by microRNA-223

Article Abstract:

The significance of the myeloid-specific microRNA-223 (miR-223) in the negative regulation of the progenitor cell proliferation and granulocyte differentiation is discussed. miR-223 is also shown to act as an excellent tuner of the granulocyte production and inflammatory response in mice.
