Identification of a mammalian mitochondrial porphyrin transporter

Article Abstract:

The mammalian ABC transporter (ABCB6) is uniquely located in the outer mitochondrial membrane and is required for mitochondrial porphyrin uptake. It shows that the mitochondrial porphyrin uptake activates de novo porphyrin biosynthesis and when the Abcb6 gene is silenced the process is blocked.

Synthesis of a Mobius aromatic hydrocarbon

Article Abstract:

The cyclic molecular structure stabilized by the decolization of p electrons is the defining feature of aromatic hydrocarbon compounds. According to Heilbronner, cyclic molecules with the topologies of Mobius band should be aromatic if they contain 4n p electrons.

Magnetic blue

Article Abstract:

The experimental studies on metal phthalocyanine (MPc) which has the potential to convert into metallic conductors on changing its crystal structure are discussed. This approach might provide a method for customizing the magnetism of molecular materials.
