Potential modulations along carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

A new scanning-probe technique has been used to assess the potential profile of molecular-scale transistors. It was found that the potential has clear modulations, with a typical period of around 40 nm.

Individual single-wall carbon nanotubes as quantum wires

Article Abstract:

Some varieties of highly symmetric single-wall nanotubes (SWNTs) have been predicted to have electrical transport properties. Observations show that SWNTs can act as molecular quantum wires, with electrical conduction occurring. Quantum-mechanically coherent, well-separate and discrete electron states appear necessary for electrical conduction. Details of the research are presented.

Electron-electron correlations in carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The robust electronic and atomic nature of single-wall carbon nanotubes makes them ideal subjects for electronic transport experiments on single molecules. It has been previously been assumed that individual electrons within nanotubes do not interact during electronic transport, but new research using transport spectroscopy data on single carbon nanotubes suggest significant electron-electron connections.
