Induction of an illusionary shadow person

Article Abstract:

A description of the repeated induction of the strange sensation in a patient who was undergoing presurgical evaluation for epilepsy treatment, which gives the illusion that somebody is nearby when no one is actually present, as a result of focal electrical stimulation of the left temporoparietal junction is presented. It is shown that such perception may be the result of disturbance in the multisensory processing of body and self at the temporoparietal junction.
