Impact of village hunting on wildlife populations in the western Dja Reserve, Cameroon

Article Abstract:

Wildlife management policies are needed to balance the objectives of Cameroon's Dja Biosphere Reserve with villager subsistence hunting. Studies show that animal populations depleted by hunting will encourage villagers to journey deeper into the reserve's forests, increasing human encroachment. Possible solutions include restricting hunters to ranges within 15 km of their villages.

Human hunting on nongame birds at Zuni, New Mexico, U.S.A

Article Abstract:

Five species of nongame birds account for 77% of all the birds hunted by the Zunis of the southwestern US. These birds are hunted for their cultural significance rather than their abundance. Research is needed to determine if this hunting will deplete these bird populations.
