Roscher's organistic legacy

Article Abstract:

Wilhelm Roscher's belief concerning the organistic nature of human existence is symbolic of the concept of historicism associated with the historical school of economics. His position, which views national society as an organism wherein families operate as 'mutually dependent organs,' is a product of his interest in the Quesnay school's Physiocrat philosophy. Since then, a new organicism has developed from Carl Menger's and Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen's work on socioeconomic phenomena.

Insight into intelligence

Article Abstract:

Studies conducted on intelligence show that it is a heritable trait and environmental factors lose importance as the individual matures. However, intelligence is affected by the environment of the family of adopted children. It is difficult to accurately judge the intelligence of an individual using IQ tests as different tests measure different capabilities. Success in education and occupational work can be predicted more accurately by IQ tests than by the social background.
