Cat scats and other telltale signs

Article Abstract:

Reconstructing a cat's diet is possible by examining its scat. First comes examining undigested remains which enables an estimation of prey. Other methods of understanding wild cat ecology include camera traps and radiotelemetry. Advances in genetics make possible the most scientific study. Examining genetic material from hair, tissues, blood and even from cat scats tells scientists about the evolutionary history, the ecology and the conservation needs of the species.
