Integrating Landscape and Metapopulation Modeling Approaches: Viability of the Sharp-Tailed Grouse in a Dynamic Landscape

Article Abstract:

Landscape dynamics such as disturbances, silviculture, and succession are studied for their impact on Wisconsin Sharp-tailed Grouse populations. Findings show that conservation studies should incorporate both landscape dynamics and demographic dynamics in order to produce results that can be used in conservation planning.

Utility of Dynamic-Landscape Metapopulation Models for Sustainable Forest Management

Article Abstract:

Brown creeper (Certhia americana) populations in Ontario are used to demonstrate the model and its applicability in indicating sustainability. Issues discussed include quantifying landscape stochasticity contributions to model prediction uncertainty.

A 16-Year Study of Forest Disturbance and Understory Bird Community Structure and Composition in Tanzania

Article Abstract:

Research in Tanzania's East Usambara Mountains shows that bird population structure and composition is negatively linked to forest disturbance levels. Species richness was least affected in primary, undisturbed forests.
