Internet star shoots for a rocket revolution

Article Abstract:

Privately funded rocket launch companies have seldom made it big but Elon Musk, a young business tycoon hopes to change this conception by floating his own company Space X, which would launch rockets into space. He has already put $100 of his own into the production of the Falcon 1 vehicle due to launch soon, which he hopes would help in revolutionizing the launch business.

Dalton Conley is the first sociologist to win the US National Science Foundation's A.T. Waterman prize worth $500,000 for applying rigorous, quantitative methods on the most politically charged and most personally sensitive topics one could address. He has entered in a Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID), a longitudinal study of nearly 8,000 US families.

Budget boost gets Russia back in the space game

Article Abstract:

A budget of 23 billion roubles for Roscosmos in 2006 approved by the State Duma, the lower house of Russian parliament is discussed. These funds will help Russia in launching its own space science missions rather than flying single instruments on European and the US spacecraft.
