Is the next big thing too big?

Article Abstract:

The cost of the James Webb Space Telescope could cripple US astronomy as the budgetary space in which it is expanding is shrinking and money once slated for science is being diverted to the space shuttle, the International Space Station and plans for future manned exploration.
