Is there a cure for the blues?

Article Abstract:

Collectors' enthusiasm for the rarest bird-species and their willingness to pay huge sums has brought the blue macaws of South America to the brink of extinction. Ornithologists want to collaborate with aviculturists for breeding the birds. The hyacinth macaw is the largest parrot at 3 feet and inhabits the remote parts of Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay, numbering between 2500 to 5000. The glaucous macaw, once common in Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil, is almost extinct. Biologist Marcos Da Re uses photographs and T-shirts to educate the natives about the birds.
