Magnetic trapping of calcium monohydride molecules at millikelvin temperatures

Article Abstract:

There have been advances in the magnetic trapping and evaporative cooling of atoms to nanokelvin temperatures. However such techniques doe not apply to molecules due to their complex internal energy-level structure. A more general loading technique is reported, based on elastic collisions with a cold buffer gas, to trap atomic chromium and europium. The method has been applied to molecular species calcium monohydride.
