Making people part of the plan: "Ethnomapping" draws on experience of indigenous peoples

Article Abstract:

A technique known as Ethnomapping, is now implemented which might help chart a conservation-friendly future. A group of Nature Conservancy researchers has adopted it to help Amazonian Indians first grasp the scope of ecological damage done to their land, then plan ahead to better protect it.

Ignorance is not bliss

Article Abstract:

Only 1.8 million of the 10 million species of organisms on earth are identified with nearly 20% facing extinction on account of our eco system. Ecologists are unable to come up with specifics to help in the decision-making for their development and conservation.
