Melanoma biology and new targeted therapy

Article Abstract:

The new therapeutic approaches used for treating melanoma, a type of skin cancer that arises from melanoytes, are discussed. Several anti-melanoma drugs and improved understanding of metastasis, cancer stem cells, and the ability to use analytical approaches to identify new targets such as neural-precursor-cell-expressed downregulated 9 have provided a range of new targets.

Article Abstract:

The study shows that during metastasis tumor cells move from the primary tumor to colonize other organs. It is shown that the way the cancer cells spread to secondary targets by sending messengers to prepare the ground for them, they mobilize normal bone-marrow cells, which create a proposed pre-metastatic niche and the tumor cells join them to form a metastasis.

Article Abstract:

A fully automated, effective and simple technique, using microchip technology, for isolating and calculating the cancer cells released into the blood by tumors, as a part of the routine blood examination for tumor cells in order to detect cancer early and supervise its progress, is discussed.
